The Searchers

We finished watching The Searchers today. It made me so mad I was enjoying it until they find the girl. Ethan goes to shoot her then decides no I will just take her home. What made him change his mind? What was that all about? Oh and I did not like the fact that Ethan scalped Scar at the end because it made him no better than the Indians like he claimed to be.

    Re: Ethan scalping Scar--GOOD POINT. Why would the film makers write it this way? *Is* Ethan better, or are both characters made "savage" (or something else?) by their prejudices?
